The State of Colorado will be engaging a contractor to develop a basic strategic plan for GIS coordination in the state. This work will identify and outline the primary goals and objectives for GIS coordination. It will build on a project currently underway that is identifying data needs and mechanisms for sharing data between state agencies for emergency management. In addition to dealing with emergency management, this first project will collect some information that is fundamental to general coordination issues such as data stewardship. The funding will not cover a comprehensive, detailed strategic plan development efforts, so the contractor will perform additional data gathering to include stakeholder groups not addressed in the emergency management project and then develop a strategic plan skeleton which will be distributed to stakeholders in the state for review and comment.
