The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) held a NSDI Leaders Forum for leaders of key geospatial organizations and professional associations on March 7 to begin the development of an updated strategic plan for the advancement of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The objectives of the meeting were to:
- Share drivers, approach, and process for developing the strategic plan
- Solicit perspectives and build common understandings of the current state including trends, conditions, challenges and opportunities
- Share ideas for roles and responsibilities of the different sectors involved in geospatial activities
- Encourage support and involvement of association constituents
- Identify next steps and timeframe
