GeoCloud Sandbox Initiative
The ten Federal GeoCloud Sandbox projects, which were identified in 2011, gained experience deploying ArcGIS and OpenGeo standards-based Web services in the GeoCloud environment using the Amazon platform. One of the ten projects was instrumental in the Cloud redeployment of the National Wetlands Inventory map and data services through the “Wetlands Mapper” application, now hosted on Amazon (see featured article). Twelve new projects were established this year with a focus on migrating public-facing data and map servers to the Cloud environment as resources to be registered with the Geospatial Platform.
