Dear FGCS members and community, (please feel free to share this email with any of your colleagues; everyone is invited to participate in the webinar described below)

You are invited to participate in a webinar on May 9 from 1300-1500 Eastern Time on NOAA's Gravity for the Redefinition of the American Vertical Datum (GRAV-D) project. The webinar will be led by Dr. Theresa Diehl, a research geodesist with NOAA's National Geodetic Survey. Here is the agenda:

First Half (45 min):
  • Overview of the need for and inception of the GRAV-D program
  • Program goals and plans to achieve them
  • Current status of program
  • Near-term plans over the next few fiscal years

Break (10 min)

Second Half (45 min):

  • Gravity and geoid product availability
  • Partnerships (for data collection, geoid-creation, and education)
  • Plans for implementing the new geoid as the official U.S. vertical datum
  • Long-term monitoring
