FGDC resources
The FGDC provides education & training resources through:
External resources
OGC e-Learning
The OGC e-Learning tutorial is designed for students who do not have a technical background in Web technologies. It identifies types of service standards and provides sub-modules on visualization standards (WMS, KML, SLE, and SE) and catalog services.
Bringing GEOSS services into practice
The Bringing GEOSS services into practice workshop teaches how to configure, use and deploy open source software to set up a spatial data infrastructure (SDI). Trainees will learn how to publish and share data and metadata using OGC and ISO standards and register services into the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS).
ISO/TC 211, Geographic information/Geomatics - Education and training
The ISO/TC 211 education and training page identifies tools and resources developed by ISO/TC 211, wikis providing information on standards, tools for standards development, OGC developed and related resources, UN-GGIM documents, and more.
GSDI Association Capacity Building and Educational Resources
The GSDI Association Capacity Building and Educational Resources web page from the GSDI Association identifies educational resources focused on SDI development and implementation and related geomatics technology. These resources include books about SDI from the GSDI Association Press; GSDI World Conference Proceedings; SDI Cookbooks - global and regional (and multilingual); the GSDI spatial documents depot; webinars; videos, SDI and geoportals links, and training opportunities. Many of these resources are open access.
StandardsLearn.org
StandardsLearn.org describes itself as "the premiere online resource providing free, easy-to-use, self-paced educational tools for standards and conformity assessment education." The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) provides these online courses courses as a public service.
ANSI Training Courses in Standardization & Related Matters
The web page Training courses in standardization and related matters from ANSI help standards and conformity assessment professionals navigate the myriad processes and procedures of national and international standards development programs. These educational programs do not include technical training or courses on specific standards, as these are the primary responsibility of ANSI’s members and accredited standards developers.
ISO support for education about standards
The web page Support for education about standards from ISO identifies resources that teach technological, economic and societal benefits of International Standards at all education levels. Initiatives include: a repository of resources and teaching materials, organization of World Standards Cooperation academic days with IETF and ITU, cooperation among standards bodies and education institutions in developing countries, and recognition of education institutions that lead the way in standardization.
